56XX Class 0-6-2T No.5637 returns to Steam!

No.5637 in Cranmore Station, you can see the Champagne bottle dangling off the Smoke Box!

On the 5th of June 2010, 56XX Class 0-6-2T No.5637 returned to steam at the East Somerset Railway!

She was taken out of service in October 2007 for a ten yearly overhaul.

It has taken the Dedicated group of volunteers 2 and a 1/2 years to complete the overhaul at the ESRs workshop.

We started overhaul at the end of 2007, dismantling the engine ready for any parts that needed replacing or mending!

The most labour intensive job though was probably the Boiler, with lots of Rivets to be Riveted in, Stays, ect, not that I had much to with that area! ;-)

On the day, the 56 drew into the Station, there were a few photos of us Volunteers, before a speech and the Champagne was smashed against the Buffer Beam (What a waste!) – (Bad Joke, I know!)

She will remain at the ESR for the next ten years, all being well!
