A bit of history #2

Radstock… Radstock stations to be exact.

Radstock S&D and GWR stations

Radstock S&D and GWR stations

The S&D  being one of the biggest stations on that line, and the GWR branch station met beside eachother.

This station is of particular intrest to me because my Great Grandad was a Signalman in the Radstock GWR box (The one to the right in the picture), which is now preserved at the Didcot Railway Centre on one of the demonstration lines.

We do think however, he did work in the S&D box as well!

When I visited the Didcot Railway Centre in 2000 it was very special moment to go into the Signal Box he worked in!

I highly recomend a visit to the Radstock museum which can also be seen in this picture, to the left.

It was originally the Market.

Visit the website.
