Ex-GWR “Castle” Stands in

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 “Castle” Class No.5029 Nunney Castle stood in for the failed Ex-BR Pacific Oliver Cromwell on August 15th.

Hauling the Weymouth Seaside Express from Bristol to Weymouth and return.

Oliver Cromwell was unavailable to haul the Excursion due to a Crack found in the Firebox some weeks earlier.

She had to run back to Yeovil to be turned, Watered and Coaled as do most locos on Excursions around that area, as Yeovil Railway Centre are equipped with a Turntable, Water Tower and Coaling facility’s.

On the return Trip she was over half an hour late.

I’m not sure for what reason though, stuck behind late service train… Who knows!?

The Railtour itself was run by Rail Touring Company, I might have been going on it, but sadly we had other arrangements.

Below is a video that I shot last night of 5029 on the return trip passing by Claverton Pumping Station at about 8:10pm! Enjoy…
