The Churnet Valley Railway is found in the County of Staffordshire, it runs from Kingsley & Froghall Station to Leekbrook Junction Loop.
Route
The route is picturesque, running alongside the Caldon Canal, through Open countryside & some in cutting.
Kingsley & Froghall
This is the Southern Terminus of the line and main starting point. There are two platforms here and a Water Tower. The station building houses the Victorian Style Tea Rooms, Ticket office and Gift shop etc.
Consall
Next, heading North along the line is Consall. This is fairly new station opened in 2002 by Pete Waterman OBE.
This is one of two passing points on the line. There is a Replica Victorian style Booking office and Waiting Room. It is sited in an area of outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are various Paths to follow.
Cheddleton
Cheddleton is the Railways Headquarters. Here are the Railways Engine sheds and Workshops. This is one of only 3 original stations left that have saved from Demolition.
There is a Tea Room here, Picnic Tables, NSRC Museum Room and Car Park.
Leekbrook Junction
This is the Northern Terminus of the line, located just outside of Leekbrook Tunnel. This is also the where the CVR joins the Moorland & City Railway which recently had and opening Steam Gala. See: http://www.mcrailways.co.uk/
Rolling Stock
The Railways Locomotives and Rolling Stock are mainly of LMS Origin. A recent edition to the fleet is LMS Stanier 8F No.8624 from Peak Rail.
Events
Events at the Railway include a Wartime Weekend, two Steam Galas, the Famous Velocipede Rally and Santa specials to name but a few…
