The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway
Welshpool & Llanfair light Railway
The WLLR is an amazing eight mile long line that runs through some stunning Welsh countryside from the town of
Bayer Peacock 0-6-0T No.822 'The Earl' taking Water at Welshpool
Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion.
There is plenty to see and do around the area. At Welshpool away from the railway just a few miles out of the town, is the National Trust owned Powis Castle. At Llanfair station there is a café and the loco sheds. (the loco sheds as far as I know are not open to public)
The WLLR is also famous for it’s annual steam Gala when the line operates its whole fleet of locos!
Oh and lets not forget the gruelling 1 in 29 incline out of Welshpool!
Stops along line are, Raven Square, Sylfaen, Castle Caereinion, Cyfronydd and Heniarth.
